Job Summary
We're looking for a baker/pastry chef to join us at our production bakery near Leeds City Centre.
Laynes Bakery grew out of wanting to supply to our cafe (found on New Station Street in Leeds) with items that really stand out from what’s available in other venues. We specialise in what is known as Viennoiserie and this has led us to growing our wholesale offering to a range of outlets found across Leeds.
Responsibilities
Preparing and baking a variety of pastries and dough items
Decorating pastries and cake products using glazes and other toppings
Ensuring all items leaving our bakery are of the expected standard
Understanding stock rotation and maintaining inventory levels, ingredients and supplies
Adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations ideally with certificates in place
Ability to work to deadlines
Ability to organise and and schedule your working day
Experience and Requirements
Early starts (5am) - must be able to get to the bakery for this time
Lamination Experience with use of a dough sheeter is essential
Experience mixing and maintaining yeasted doughs
An understanding of the idea that it’s the attention to details and the implementation of consistency that allows us to work towards perfection
Solid work ethic with an understanding of what constitutes teamwork
full drivers license is preferred
Pay - starting at £13.75 & dependent on experience

About Laynes
Laynes has been on New Station Street since 2011. Starting at a small espresso bar it’s grown into neighbouring units to allow us to create a go-to venue for coffee and day time food service. The company remains barista owned and run and continues to be a benchmark in quality coffee for the city.
The Role
We’re looking for someone with a genuine care for all service elements that go into a high level barista. A focus on coffee quality and customer service while staying open and accepting to further training and development. We want someone looking to add to the Laynes environment where customers and staff feel genuinely looked after.
You'll work closely with the shop's owner and management team who’ll support and offer training where required.
Expectations
Time keeping is essential with starting times from 7am to 3pm.
To always want to deliver top quality service and drinks.
To keep the shop clean and welcoming, while ensuring all health and safety requirements are checked and met.
Pay
£12.71 plus tips. Tip allocation usually equates to around £2.40 an hour on top of base wage though can fluctuate.
